Tips From Mom

Tips From Mom for Mother's Day
Mother knows best. Always!

No matter if she’s yours, hers, his, theirs, or mine, when a mom decides to impart her pearls of wisdom upon you, take them in. Moms delight in sharing their hard earned knowledge. It’s an intelligence that only comes from the decades of trials and triumphs that women face before and throughout motherhood.
We asked several leaders of brands we love what wisdom their mothers imparted upon them. What beauty notes did their mothers give them as children? What beauty tips would they share with their adult children now?
The results were, well, beautiful.
Read, receive, implement these quips, and live your most luminous lives. Mother’s orders.

What beauty tip did your mom give to you as a child?
My mum taught me to be completely natural, she wore no make up, every now and again she would wear a lick of mascara but never touched her skin. We spent so many hours outdoors playing and working and I think fresh country air and being active kept my mum such a natural beauty. I have lived my life exactly that way, a little mascara daily although I do moisturize every day which she didn’t and once in a blue moon I wear a red lip. I also live in the city so I’m not sure the air pollution will allow my skin to glow the same way hers did when she was my age.

What beauty tip did your mom give to you as a child?
Always take care of the basics... take off your make-up before you go to sleep at night, use sunscreen when you are out in the sun and don't smoke!
What beauty tip would your mom give to you now?
It's more important what you put in your body than what you put on. Eat healthily and find balance as it will help you deal with stress, and remember that true style is something you create. Buying a designer bag shows perceived status not style.

What beauty tip did your mom give to you as a child?
Never sleep with makeup on and, every day, moisturize!!!
What beauty tip would your mom give to you now?
She still stresses the importance of washing off my makeup before bed, and to never skip the anti-aging moisturizer. I can only hope she passed her good genes down to me!
